Ron and Linda Neumann, American citizens who were staying near Tel Aviv, said they were stranded after the Hamas attack, unable to catch commercial flights home to Florida.
On a conference call Monday with reporters, the couple said their area came under regular missile fire, prompting them to seek refuge in a bomb shelter.
It was Project Dynamo’s fifth flight in its Israel rescue operation, said Bryan Stern, the nonprofit’s executive director.
The state of Florida paid for the planes, and Gov.
“How we got on this plane is a miracle from God because we had no way to get out,” said Ron Neumann, the son of a Holocaust survivor, speaking from the couple’s home in Melbourne, Fla.
